Program structure
The 120 ECTS credits of the MESPOM study program are completed in 24 months. Advanced optional courses on current environmental sustainability concerns and cross-cutting competencies follow an introductory module during the first year’s fall and winter terms, which are held at Central European University (CEU, Vienna). Sustainable tourism and environmental science courses pertaining to land, water, and ecosystem management are offered during the spring term by the University of the Aegean (Lesvos, Greece).
Students participate in internships during the summer that are offered by Associated Partners or other organizations and overseen by MESPOM teachers. Students spend the second year’s fall term studying Environment, Industry, and Products at Lund University’s International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics in Sweden, or Environment and Pollution Control at the University of Manchester’s School of Earth and Environmental Sciences in the United Kingdom.
The fourth (thesis) semester is spent by students at any Consortium partner based on their interests in both academia and the workplace. Throughout their education, MESPOM students focus on cutting-edge subjects including biodiversity and conservation, sustainable energy and climate change, urban sustainability, sustainable production and consumption, and environmental security and justice.
